I worked as a corporate graphic designer for many years but have always had a passion for textile design, particularly surface pattern design. While working as a full-time designer, I took on several screen-printing classes to create my own repeat fabric designs. It felt wonderful to be more creative and hands on (instead of endless hours in front of the computer), so this interest led me to return to study textiles in Melbourne to explore the possibilities of using my skills and experience in graphic design to branch out into textiles.
In 2012, I started ‘Fabric Drawer’ my little (hopefully one day big) creative venture; where I could start creating my own pattern designs and illustrations. I hope to get my designs printed on fabric and made available for people to buy, as well as on stationary and home wares. I would love to be able to walk into a shop and see my work on sale, or better yet see someone buying my wares in-store!
Through my love of travel, I take inspiration from all kinds of designs from all over the world, but particularly love Scandinavian design.
