I received my design education at Iowa State University. I have a BFA in Interior Design and I am currently finishing my MA in Graphic Design. My fascination with pattern began back in 1999 when I spent a semester studying design in Rome, Italy. I have sketchbooks full of patterns that adorned nearly every surface of Rome’s historical buildings. Pattern was everywhere and I was mesmerized!
In the following 10 years, I practiced commercial interior design at a midwestern architectural firm. One of my favorite parts of that job was seeing new patterns come out each season in wallcovering, textiles, and carpet.
Today, I am a wife, mother and full-time student. I love photography and sewing (which is surprising given how frustrated I became while my mother patiently taught me how as a teenager). I am a former farm girl and love the fact that while I no longer live on a farm, I can still drive 5 minutes to get my dose of open space. I love to explore other parts of the world, but I’m also content exploring the amazing minutia of nature around me.
My coursework in graphic design is culminating in the development of a surface design portfolio. Following graduation, I plan to start a business as a freelance designer. Pattern is my passion and I hope to make it my career. I’m thrilled to be a part of REPEAT and I’m looking forward to getting started!
