Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr are professional quiltmakers and co-founders of Modern Quilt Studio (previously FunQuilts), a contemporary quilt design studio in Oak Park, Illinois. Bill and Weeks bring a modern twist to the great American quilting tradition with decades of quiltmaking experience and graduate design degrees.
Weeks and Bill were at the forefront of the Modern Quilt movement with the release of their book, The Modern Quilt Workshop in 2005 and continue with the launch of Modern Quilts Illustrated magazine in 2011. Their other books on contemporary quilting and design include Transparency Quilts, Quilts Made Modern and Quiltmaker’s Color Workshop. Bill and Weeks also lecture and teach design and quiltmaking throughout the US and Canada.
Their work has been featured widely in the national press including in O:The Oprah Magazine, TIME, The New York Times, Interior Design, Dwell, and Country Living.
As designers, Weeks and Bill have designed over one hundred original fabrics which have been sold in more than 15 countries and have developed bedding and textiles for Crate and Barrel.
When not busy designing and sewing, Weeks writes about craft and creativity on her blog Craft Nectar (www.craftnectar.com). When he’s not working in the studio, Bill is a professor and head of the Graphic Design discipline at Dominican University in River Forest, IL.
