Several of the REPEAT guest judges had booths at Market. Susan Brown and Linda Warren bunked with TPB, what troopers… Carolyn Friedlander’s booth was a masterpiece as could be expected. Madeleine and I have been testing some of her new patterns over the last few months, and you have to check out Backbone, Aerial, and Palmetto.
Weeks Ringle was also at Market. Modern Quilt Studio had loads of great quilts. This one was my favorite…Imagine any of the great REPEAT prints featured in this quilt…
Here’s a sampling of some of the amazing things I saw while wandering the endless rows…Marcia Derse has amazing colors and designs that make me want to buy her out and incorporate her amazing fabric into every quilt for the rest of time…
The first day of Market, I tried to wander up and down all the aisles of vendors. Like anything else in life, everyone is different, and some of the quilting fabric, notions, and patterns didn’t really appeal to me. So, after a few rows, I stumbled upon this booth, Ever Kelly. Kelly had some cute patterns and she was showcasing her new fabric line Storybook Lane with Andover Fabrics! Love, love, love her display!
Liberty debuted their new line of Lifestyle Fabrics (cheaper) at Market in KC…Loads of designs and colorways, keep your fingers crossed that your local quilt shop indulged at this booth! Read more details over at True Up.
This was one of my favorite quilts that I saw at Market. It reminds me of the Color Wheel Quilt from Purl Soho. This quilt is from Alexia Marcelle Abegg’s Green Bee Patterns, and I totally want to make it…now!
Another one of my favorite quilts was Anna Maria Horner’s feather quilt. Showcasing all her new fabric designs, this quilt was a scrappy interpretation of the feather cliche, but whatever, I love it. Apparently it will be a free pattern download soon on her website!
What would a Market re-cap post be without mentioning Amy Butler? Her booth was lovely, a merchandising dream.
To drum up the excitement at Market, there is, of course, a competition amongst vendors to win the best booth. There are several different categories depending on the size of the booth, and after two Markets, I am starting to get the feeling that Michael Miller Fabrics dominates the competitions! At last Market, they had a car, and this time their booth featured three (almost) life sized elephants!
Melody Miller’s booth is what my dream living room would look like! Perfection…
Another quilt highlight, this ombre houndstooth number at the Moda booth!
Madeleine and I both went to lots of different Schoolhouse sessions on Thursday…It really enriched the experience, allowing for a sneak peak at lots of exciting things coming up. We both got pretty excited about Elizabeth Hartman’s new book Modern Patchwork. The quilts below are samples of patterns included in the book. Madeleine snatched up a signed copy, and I think I might have to borrow it!
Quilt Market is an exciting event. I hope these pictures help our readers get pumped up about what is coming up in quilting, but I also hope the remaining REPEAT designers are excited about their chance to participate in this exciting event next fall in Houston!
