Hi! My name is Jessica Pollak and I’m the artist behind First Pancake Studio! I graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Illustration. I lived in Japan for six months and it had a huge impact on me and my work. After returning from Japan I was inspired to create a series of patterns based on my favorite Japanese snacks. Since then I’ve looked for ways to channel my inspiration from cooking, vintage patterns and travel into surface design.Last year I was proud to be a finalist in the REPEAT contest! I was able to attend the Houston Quilt Market and meet up with Ellen, Madeleine, Michele and many of my favorite designers. Market was a great experience and it’s motivated me to continue pursuing pattern design work. Currently I spend my days in Providence, RI studio creating surface designs, illustration and hand lettering.
